The royal road ride starts from the beach of Goa Velha, along the asphalted section of the royal road, through the quaint village of Batim with its lake populated by water birds, past a fresh water spring, up a hill, over the 3-km stretch of the surviving royal road to Old Goa. The ride ends at the Oratorian Convent, the headquarters of the Blessed Fr Jose Vaz, who was canonized by Pope Francis in Colombo in January 2015, making him Goa’s first indigenous saint.
